Applied research on how hate takes root

Every intervention we build starts with evidence. We study the pathways into gender grievance and hate— and what actually engages them.

Research areas

Pathways into hate

How search, recommendation, and community dynamics move young men to hardened grievances.

Intervention testing

What content, messengers, and formats actually change behavior from anti-social to pro-social.

Tech accountability

Where monetization and design reward radicalizing content, and what reforms would change that.

LIT REVIEW

The First Grievance: Misogyny, the Manosphere, and the Road to Extremism

We examined recent research to understand how interactions across the radicalization ecosystem at the individual, community, and platform levels shape the escalation of misogynistic worldviews into radicalization.

DEEP DIVE

Inside Two Men’s Forums: One Finds Enemies, the Other
Finds Connection

While the two communities often described similar experiences, they gave men very different lenses for understanding and acting on them. We examined how each community handles grievance — and how community design determines whether that grievance is supported or allowed to harden into blame.

NEWSLETTER HIGHLIGHT

From Jake Paul to Holocaust Denial in 90 Minutes or Less

Our researchers created a sockpuppet TikTok account registered to a fake 16-year-old boy and observed, in real time, what the platform chose to deliver. The goal was not to seek out harmful content, but to understand how quickly it might surface on its own.
